Swalek Ltd Supports Young Cyclists with Balance Bike Donation to Penllergaer Primary School
At Swalek Ltd, we’re proud to support initiatives that create positive opportunities for young people in our local community. Recently, we partnered with Cycle Champs to donate 10 balance bikes and helmets to pupils at Penllergaer Primary School.
Learning to ride a bike is one of childhood’s most exciting milestones. However, many children do not always have regular access to suitable equipment. Through this donation, more pupils can develop confidence, coordination and essential cycling skills from an early age. In addition, the bikes provide a fun and engaging way to stay active outdoors.
Balance bikes offer an excellent introduction to cycling because they help children learn balance and control naturally. As a result, many young riders gain confidence more quickly and find the transition to pedal bikes much easier.
This project also supports the growing focus on increasing cycling participation among young people across Wales. Notably, Cycle Champs has been involved in projects linked to the Tour de France and has worked with organisations promoting cycling opportunities ahead of the race coming to Wales in 2027.
Furthermore, balance bike programmes are becoming an important part of the Tour de France legacy plans. By encouraging children to start cycling at an early age, these initiatives aim to build healthier and more active communities for the future.
Therefore, Swalek Ltd is proud to partner with Cycle Champs on a project that not only benefits local children today but also supports a wider vision for cycling across Wales.
We look forward to seeing the pupils of Penllergaer Primary School enjoy the bikes for years to come. Ultimately, we hope this donation inspires confidence, encourages activity and helps create a lifelong love of cycling.
