Solar Farm VLF Pressure Testing
Swalek, was given the responsibility of conducting Very Low Frequency (VLF) pressure testing on a 33kV network at a 36MW solar farm. This is a significant task as VLF pressure testing is a critical procedure used to verify the integrity of the power cables and equipment in the network. The process began with the
installation of all 33kV terminations across the site. These terminations are crucial connection points in the network that allow for the safe and efficient transmission of electricity Once the terminations were installed, the team moved on to the final task – carrying out VLF pressure testing across the entire
installation. This test applies a very low frequency voltage to the network to
check for faults and ensure the network can safely handle the
electrical load.
