Penygarnddu Wind Turbine Project – 750kW
Penygarnddu Wind Turbine Project: Swalek High Voltage Services has recently begun a contract to deliver a high voltage electrical balance of plant network for a single 750kW wind turbine at a meat manufacturing facility in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil. The turbine will generate power to support manufacturing and will also provide export generation to the western power distribution network.
Technical Specification
• Swalek carried out all aspects of the high voltage detailed design for the project.
• Cable route designed in line with WPD (Western Power Distribution) specification.
• Supplied and installed all electrical equipment, including circuit breakers, ring main units, transformer, LV switchboard and all interconnecting cables.
• Full design & install of the earthing system.
• Installed 840 meters of cable.
• Testing & commissioning.
• Principal contractor for all works, including overseeing the erection of the wind turbine.
Project Outcome
The project has been in progress since October 2021 and is due to complete in July this year. The completion of the wind turbine will allow electricity to be generated and sold to the manufacturing facility and to the local WPD network.
